5th grade promotion certificate
We got grades last week and are so proud of Em's straight A's for the last 2 quarters.
She ended the year with all A's with the exception of 2 B's in Math, 1st and 2nd quarter.
She worked hard last year and this year and is very deserving.

To top off the year, our girl was given the "Friend to all" Fun award.
Em, you are a kind, loving, smart young lady.  You were recognized this week for living out the virtues of Arete.  Congrats! We love you and are very proud of you.  We can't wait to see you continue to blossom at the Prep Middle School.  Much love.

Dinner at the Keg to celebrate

Emma ended the week presenting a speech to her 5th grade class of 90 students and a group of 20 parents and a few teachers. She spoke about what it means to be an Archway student.  Emma, Grace and Hanna were chosen to speak at the 5th grade party from the 5A class .  We could not be more proud.  Love you lady!!

What Does Being a Student at Archway Arete Mean?
By: Emma Davey

Being an Arete student, means always trying and doing your best no matter what. Arete provides many wonderful opportunities to expand your knowledge.  For example, we dive into History and Science.  In History, we explored the people and events of the Renaissance and in Science we examined the functions of plants cells. We also have a great math curriculum, we get to learn about fractions, percentages, graphs and many other math tools. Arete students also have the chance to read classical literature like The Secret Garden and Carry On Mr. Bowditch. While reading the classics, we expand our vocabulary and learn valuable lessons through the stories. Students at Arete also get to participate in Art, Music, Physical Education, and French. In physical education we get to learn how to play basketball, soccer, and many other fun sports. In music we learn how to sing in Latin, French and many other languages. In art we learn how to sketch, paint and quill. In French we learn how to speak and translate the language. Over Christmas break I traveled to Paris France. During the trip I practiced my French poems with my Aunt’s friend who was born in Bordeaux, France.  I loved being able to connect what I learned in school to my life experience. We have so many exciting opportunities here at Arete.
As Arete students we practice the virtues of perseverance, courage, responsibility, humility, honesty, friendship, and citizenship. The virtues help us develop great hearts. My favorite virtue is friendship because connections are very valuable. Friends are always there to help you and make you laugh.
We are lucky to have great teachers here at Arete. Our teachers inspire us and encourage us to be great scholars. They are always there for you even when you make a mistake.
One day, Miss Porcelli wrote a quote by Fredrick Douglas on the board, it said "There is no progress without struggle." You have to remember that here at Arete you may struggle but you will always get the help you need to succeed from your teachers and peers.
Attending Arete is such an honor. I have made so many friends and met so many great teachers. I have learned so much here at Arete and I am so excited to continue my journey next year at the prep.
