Fall Fun

We carved pumpkins, roasted pumpkin seeds and made carmel apples to celebrate fall. We are looking forward to cooler weather in Casper this upcoming weekend.

Caitlyn, Emma and Daddy carving pumpkins.
Emma chose her own hair accessories and Caitlyn decided to "try" a little while carving.
Great memories.

The Pumpkin Patch

Emma took Mathea and Adalia for a ride around the pumpkins

Caitlyn said "mine" as she pointed to herself. I guess she wanted all of the pumpkins!!

We had a fun outing to the pumpkin patch on Friday, October 23rd with the Stenhoffs.

Dancing at the Stenhoff's

"Containers"

In an effort to continue our contributions to Science, I recently agreed to provide Emma's stool sample to researchers conducting a study at ASU.  The study is examining differences between the mineral levels in the stools of typical developing children compared to children affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder.  I explained to Emma that because she is such a good eater, the doctors want to study her poop.  Recently, we received several medical containers in the mail complete with rubber gloves, a cold pack for shipping and nacho chip container (like the ones you get at the ball game - you know red and white checkers).  The nacho holder will serve as the poop catcher as the sample can not be contaminated by water.   Apparently this is on Emma's mind.  We know this because tonight while talking about packing for our upcoming trip to visit Nana and Papa in Wyoming, she asked, "will I need to bring my containers with me?"

In case you are wondering... no she will not, we will be done by then.

Craft night and fun with the Stenhoffs

The Stenhoffs invited us over for a night of fall crafts and fun...and when I say fun, I mean dancing.  Mathea and Emma painting fall leaves.

Anna and Bethany hard at work.

Time for ice cream.

Emma Mathea- too cute.

Annayln and Ethan Stenhoff.  Anna was 2 and Ethan was 5 when we became friends.  WOW- time flies when you are moving around the country together.  Anna turned 8 and Ethan turned 11 this past June.  We became friends in Logan, UT of all places.  Don and Bryan were in grad school together.  When we moved to ATL they moved to Lexington, KY and Don was a professor at UK for 4 years.  They recently moved here to PHX.  Don and Bryan are working together again at ACCEL and the new Autism clinic.  YAY for great friends.  I guess they missed us...we sure missed them and are so happy to have them close by.

First day of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

October 22, 2009 was Emma's first day of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.  Catechesis is the religious formation that St. Tim's Catholic School uses.  It is a hands on Montessorian method to teach spirituality and the Catholic faith.  It was developed by Dr. Sofia Cavalletti and Gianna Gobbi. Gianna worked with Dr. Maria Montessori in 1940.  In 1954 Dr. Cavalletti and Gianna founded the Good Shepherd Centre of Catechesis for children and adults in Rome, Italy.  This is Emma's second year in the atrium.  This year her teachers name is Claudia Schmitt.  Claudia was blessed to work with Sofia Cavalletti in Rome for 8 years, studying and learning from her.  We feel so blessed to have Claudia at St. Tim's and as Emma's Catechist.  What a unique opportunity.  Nana Macklin is a trained Catechists and directed The Catechesis program for Our Lady of Fatima Parish for 10 years.  The director of Emma's Montessori school has also been trained as a Catechist and would love to have an atrium at Montessori International when space allows.

Caitlyn's hair trim

Caitlyn's hair before the trim

After the trim

Yes, it got a little too short on top and I did not want to mess with her cute curls...so we ended up with this for now.  :) And I am not going to actually say the "M" word.  It will grow.  RIGHT???

And look...her hair looks adorable with a barrette. So for now, we will go for the girlie accessories to cover the short on top and ROCK the party in the back.  :) he he.  With the shorter bangs we can see Caitlyn bear's beautiful blue eyes and we love that.

Dr. Emma and patient Caitlyn

Yes, we have spent our fair share of time in the doctors office this past year between Emma's ear infections and Caitlyn's asthma related issues.  I guess the girls have learned though observation how to play doc and patient.  This is how we found them this morning while we were making breakfast.  Thanks to Grandma Janis for the real stethoscope.  Emma was trying to put a toy band aid on Caitlyn's toe.  Too cute.

Jack and the Beanstalk (Emma's first play)

Emma and Mommy went to see Jack the Beanstalk today at the Hale Theater in downtown Gilbert.  It was a great little production.  We had a nice time and got to go to Liberty Cafe afterwards for lunch.  Emma's favorite character was the princess. She has been talking about the play since we got home.  She told Bryan that she wants to act when she is 13 years old.  :)

On our way to the play.
