A little laugh

I came across this one as I was going through the jillion photos that my Dad took while they were here for the past month.

Oh, I just had to laugh with her little foot striking a pose, the upside down glasses and the serious nose picking. Love it, ahh to be 2.5 and have no worries, well except for a few boogies every now and again.

Kids Say the Darndest things

Here are the Kids Say the Darndest things from the past few years - I will start a new list for 2011 !!

11-2010
Mrs. Lang asked the students to think of a "what if" when talking about Thanksgiving dinner with family. Emma raised her hand and said "what if the turkey could walk." The kiddos and Mrs. Lang had a good laugh. You have a great sense of humor Miss Em.

11-2010
Tonight I was talking to Caitlyn about going on a run in the morning. As she went to bed, I said, "in the morning we will go on a..." Caitlyn filled in the blank with "a bear hunt."

9-2010
Lately, Caitlyn has been saying "I had a burp in my belly" when she toots.

8-2010
During an Infant Swim Resource lesson, Caitlyn told Miss Angelee "I have two arms!!"

5-2010

As Bryan was getting Emma ready for bed she was standing over him and exclaimed "Dad, you have a hole in your hair."

3-2010

"Mom, today we had the best pretzels at snack, they were straight with no wiggles." I guess we have always bought Emma the "wiggly" pretzels.

12.09

"How old is Jesus going to be?"

11.09

We were walking in a store and I told Emma to stay near by. She replied "right behind ya babe."

11.10.09

"Why did God make the earth? Did he make the road?"

3.23.2009
You are my best mommy.

6.21.09
When swimming in the pool, I asked her what she would do if she slipped in. I was hoping she would say "I would float", since she has had swimming lessons for so long . Instead she said "I will pray for help."

6.22.09

After Emma gave her stuffed horse a new hair style with the use of some water during nap time I asked her why she had done that. She said "I didn't know any better." I asked her where she had heard that. She responded "on one of my shows." Since when does she have "shows"?? Add this one to the list of socially acceptable responses. Ha

PF Changs Half Marathon

Sunday, January 16th was a great day for a race. It started out a bit chilly but ended up being perfect running weather. Gotta love AZ for that. Bryan, the girls and Nana and Papa fought the crowds to come cheer me on. This was about mile 12.9, I was so very happy to see them. I was also happy that the finish line was around the corner. I leaned over the fence, gave the girls quick kisses and was off.

The girls
Emma's sign said "Go Mom and Jen, go everyone."
Caitlyn's said "Have a super, fun, crazy time." (If we could have read it)

It was so great to train with my friend Jen. She was always ready to roll even if it was dark, freezing cold and 6am. I called our runs together "mama therapy" since we chit chat the whole time. Jen rocked with a time of 2 hrs and 5 minutes.
I finished in 2 hrs, 16 minutes and 22 seconds. That is about 12.5 minutes faster than the women's half (2 hrs, 28 minutes and 58 seconds). I was just so thankful that my foot felt fine. I was happy that I could run the whole time vs taking a few walk breaks because of pain like last time.

Jen and I found these adorable head bands at the expo and went a little crazy. There were fun ones with sayings- a few that I liked were
"I will run for wine"
"Cheaper than therapy"
"Love chocolate, gotta run"
I love running, I hate running, I love running"
I decided on a few cute ones and one that said
"Run now, wine later"
Too funny

Of all things, I had jammed my ring toe (not sure what else to call it) in our heavy garage door a few days before the run so it was sore to say the least. My toe nail was bent back and now it is black. It was annoying for the first five miles or so (until it turned into a dull, numb pain). I decided to offer that pain and annoyance to God for both my girls in hopes that any pain or difficulties they may encounter in the future would be taken into the hands of God. I also prayed for as many family members and friends that I could. I guess for me running is a lot of reflection and time in your own head so you have to use it wisely. :)

All in all, it was a fabulous experience.
I had originally signed up for the full marathon and had sincere intentions of running it. As life turned out, I just did not have it in me. My hurt foot was part of it and lack of time was the other. Maybe one day. I have the itch somewhere inside, it must be a bit deeper than I first thought. When the time is right, it will happen. Until then, I will keep putting one foot in front of the other.
PS- thanks to my super hubby for taking on morning duty while I trained with Jen

Cutie Caitlyn

"I am a Mommy runner." as she pushes the mini jogger stroller with her red bear through the living room. "Mark, set, go!"

"Mom, there is some glitter." when she sees litter on the sidewalk when we run

"That is a women." when pointing to a lemon

C "I excited for school mama." M "Yes, you get to go Montessori preschool." C "No, I want to go to Emma's school."

Happy New Year 2011

We celebrated New Years Eve over at the Normans house with our wonderful friends. This is our goofy group photo!!

The Plummers, Bradleys, Normans, Daveys and Wilsons
We had a chili dinner and the kiddos played

After dinner we did our big countdown to the New Year (even though it was 8:30pm) and the kids did sparklers.

It was a perfect way to bring in the New Year. And yes, Bryan and I were asleep by 11pm. :)

Here's to 2011- may it be happy and bright
