I was diagnosed with a melanoma cancer spot on my right calf in mid February. It has been an emotional time. It's been a little scary, a bit stressful and very eye opening (in a good way). I am so thankful to have faith in the Good Lord, knowing that he is watching over me, my family and the doctors and nurses who have helped me. I have had so many wonderful people praying for me. Now that my surgery is over and I am recovering I thought that I would post some pictures. Pictures that I will look back on and smile. This whole experience has given me a different perspective on life and I am trying to hold on to that.
Bryan's attempt to take a picture while I was in admitting. I was successful in avoiding it. Who wants their photo while in this awesome gown, oh and you should have seen my hospital under ware...
PS- Bryan has taken such good care of me and the girls. I really am the luckiest gal !! Thank you honey.
The first evening I was wearing a sock on one foot because I still had beta dyne on my foot. C told my Dad and I that she needed to run upstairs to get her bed ready for bed. I told her I didn't believe her but that was fine. I told my Dad "I bet she comes down with one sock". Sure enough, we were twins. It was so sweet. Caitlyn has been helping me walk as I drag my foot around the house. She holds my hand and says "oh let me help you walk." I tell her, thank you, you are so helpful. She replies with "That's why you have a daughter." It just melts my heart.
Emma bought me a St. Peregrine metal at the St. Tim's book store. He is the Patron Saint of those suffering with cancer. He devoted his life to the sick and poor and as a practiced a penance of standing whenever possible. He developed varicose veins and was eventually diagnosed with cancer at the age of 60. The night before his leg was to be amputated he drug himself before the cross and begged for the Lord to heal him. He had a vision of Jesus and awoke the next day and was completely healed and his cancer was cured.
While this time has been challenging, we have drawn closer to the Lord and asked for his grace. He has answered our prayers with good outcomes so far.
Our sweet friends, the Stenhoff family brought us homemade lasagna and sooo many other treats. We have been enjoying them a great deal.
I am so lucky to work for an amazing group of people at H.O.P.E. group. They sent me this yummy edible bouquet.
Now, for the gnarly picture of my incision.
I am thankful for so many things and praise God for all of his goodness.
