A note from Miss Rosanne about Caitlyn's composition

Andrea, I read the words as Caitlyn played, and it went beautifully!  Do you mind if I read it on Saturday?  I hate for everyone not to hear how clever the words are to this darling song.

Just between you, me and the fence post...;-)  I  always put the best songs at the end of the Recital, and my favorite is always the last.  Guess who's last???  Congrats to Caitlyn!

I will be turning her song into the song writers competition this year.  They require the song to be videoed at the recital, and then posted on You Tube.  I have no idea how to do that!!!  Grrrrrr..  Is it possible for you to video her and post it for me?  I'll send you the competition requirements so you can read them and know their criteria.  I think she'll do very well. My students used to win all the time, but lately I think they felt like I was winning too often, so I haven't won for a few years.  Maybe this year will be different.  If not, it will be a wonderful experience for her.

Thank you for your support and help all these years.  I will SOOOOO miss having my favorite Davey family coming each week.  Give loves to Emma, and we'll see you Saturday.

Responsibility Virtue Award

Emma came home with the Responsibility Virtue Award today! She has worked extremely hard this year at Arete.  While Bryan and I see it on a daily basis, it was very up lifting for her to receive this award.  She was nominated by her teacher and got to go down to Headmaster Gillingham's office for a special presentation of the award (and a cool purple pencil).  Her name was announced as well. Way to go Miss E!  You are very deserving after rising to the challenge of Arete's rigorous curriculum.

Celebrating my 40 year old

We celebrated this great guy this weekend with friends.  We hung out by the pool, laughed, ate a delicious dinner and celebrated Bryan turning 40.  Happy Birthday honey.  So glad we met 15 years ago to the week.  Love you! I am so thankful for you and our girls.

Uncle Nate & Aunt Laura

Nathan Macklin is currently serving as the Political-Military Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya, a position he started in 2013.  Prior to serving in Kenya, Nate served two years in the Executive Secretariat, also known as “The Line,” at the Department of State, during which he traveled to over 30 countries on the advance teams for U.S. Secretaries of State Hillary Clinton and John Kerry.  He also helped coordinate their participation at the annual UN General Assembly in New York.  From 2010-2011, Nate served as a Watch Officer/Senior Watch Officer (WO/SWO) in the Operations Center, the Department’s crisis response office, during which he and a team of other Foreign Service Officers tracked emerging world events.  In this capacity, Nate provided daily briefings to senior Department of State officials on events such as the NATO action in Libya and various protests at U.S. Embassies worldwide during the Arab Awakening.  Prior to the Operations Center, Nate served two years at the U.S. Embassy in Tegucigalpa, Honduras where he was a consular officer and political officer.  Nate received an honorable mention for Secretary Clinton’s 2011 Human Rights and Democracy Achievement Award based on his political reporting on the human rights situation in Honduras following the June 2009 coup.  Nate’s first tour was as a consular officer at the U.S. Consulate General in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico.

Nate is married to Laura Macklin and together they are expecting their first child in January 2015.  Nate is originally from Casper, Wyoming, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Gonzaga University and a Master’s in Public Policy from the University of Chicago.  Nate joined the Foreign Service in 2005 as part of the Department’s Thomas R.
