Results from the Sprint Tri

The mamas before the race.  It was an early morning.  Wake up call was at 5:15, left the house at 6am and did not start the swim until about 10:30am.

Drum roll...the sprint triathlon was a ton of fun.  It was a gorgeous day for a race, except for the wind that came up right as I got ready to jump in the pool.  And no, I am not just saying that, I have a few witnesses.  I ended up doing the race with a few gals from my Gilbert Mom's group.  Jen, Joy and Kim did an amazing job.  My friend Jenn ended up not racing, but for good reason...she is expecting.  YAY.  So, she was with me in spirit.

The goofy mama ready to race

Waiting in line.  Go Dr. Joy (she is in the water) Joy and Howie are our dentists.  Joy's husband Howie won first place.  He is an ironman competitor.

First lap wasn't too bad...it got messy after that.  :)

So, I thought the swimming was going to be the most difficult.  I was wrong.  It was over in a snap.  The 15.4 mile bike in the wind was hard on my knees and my bum bone and it took forever.  The 2 mile run was easy considering my legs were jello and I could hardly feel anything.

My sweet girlies cheering.  They did so well during the race.  Bryan as so good with them.  Emma thinks I won which is all the matters.  I tried to tell her that there were some other Mommies and Daddies that were faster but she was convinced, so I didn't argue too much.

Bryan and Caitlyn waiting for the race to begin.  Seville Country Club is so beautiful.  Bryan is up next...we will be cheering him on next time.

The Stenhoff family and my Aunt Bonnie and Uncle Paul came out to watch me swim (I mean dog paddle).  It was so thoughtful of them.  Thanks you guys.  It meant a lot.

SO....now for the results.

93 women participated.  I placed 82 out of 93 overall.  In the 30-34 range, I placed 19 out of 21.  I was 81st in swimming with a time of 9:13, 85th in biking with a time of 1:15:51, and 53rd in running with a time of 30:55.  My total time was 1:55:59.  Ok, so I did not hit my "rocken time" or my "realistic time", but I came in a few minutes under my "have to do it in 2 hours time".  It was an amazing experience, I would totally do it again.  If it weren't for the wind that morning, I feel like I would have done better on the bike.  But hey, there is always next time right.
