A Happy Heart

Caitlyn came home and told me all about the service project she had done at school.  Below is the email I sent her teacher.

Caitlyn and Andrew stuffing stockings

Mrs. Cook-

In the midst of the Christmas bustle I would like to take a moment to thank you for organizing the service project that your class was involved in today.
This is truly the kind of thing that matters this time of year.

Caitlyn and I were driving to Target tonight to pick up gifts for a 14 year old girl that is a part of a family of 6 that our street has adopted for Christmas through St. Vincent De Paul, when she began telling me all about the stocking stuffing.  From what she said it was to benefit foster children.  That is near and dear to our hearts as my cousin had difficulties caring for her own baby. He was fostered by my extend family and then adopted into an awesome family that we all get to see on a regular basis.  I used him as the example when we discussed what you did today.

She went on and on about her “heart was so happy”, “it is just happy mom”…. to hear her say this made my heart smile.
I thank you for giving her the gift of todays project, I love that she is learning the gift of giving from many different people in her life.

With the sadness going on in the world, this is the sort of thing to hold onto.

With happy hearts,
Andrea and Caitlyn
