We participate in our second race as a family on December 12, 09. We ran the 12Ks of Christmas (7.4 miles) with our little elves and our sleigh (jogger stroller). We had is decorated with lights, garland, ribbons and stockings. We wore our Christmas attire (the girls in their holiday PJs, Bryan in a Santa hat and I wore a Santa head band). It was lots of fun. We finished in 1 hour and 22 minutes.
The girls on the swings after the race. Notice the blue bell ice cream truck in the back ground- that was one of the many treats they had for the runners. Wow, blue bell ice cream is yummmmmy.
Before the race. This was the first annual 12Ks of Christmas to benefit the local animal shelter. There were lots of cute doggies around and most of them were dressed up, many of them raced as well. Next year we are going to have some doggies pull our sleigh...he he.
Emma dancing around before she went on her ride.
There were Christmas carolers at every K- which was fun. At the half way mark we saw Santa and they passed out candy canes. That helped the girlies make it the rest of the way...shhhh don't tell Nana, Grandma or Dr. Joy (dentist). We brushed before nap time don't worry.
The doggie mascot. It was sooo much fun to see people dressed up. One guy ran in a full Santa suit, one guy dressed like Frosty the snowman (white tights, top hat and orange nose and all). We saw jingle bells on peoples shoes, elves, and many many Santas. We were the only double jogger stroller (that we saw at least). So, we gave ourselves the one and only double jogger stroller award. We saw a hand full of single joggers. Everyone was so happy and joyful during the race. It made the morning so much fun. A few big people asked us for a ride in the stroller, we told them sure if they could fit.
